Liquid-level gauges and indicators covered by these requirements include the following:

  • Float-operated liquid-level gauges for use with aboveground steel tanks for fuel oil and lubricating oil
  • Tank-filling signals for use with aboveground steel tanks for fuel oil and lubricating oil
  • Float-operated permanent magnet-type liquid-level gauges for use with aboveground steel tanks for fuel oil and lubricating oil, aboveground, or underground or enclosed inside storage tanks
  • Hydrostatic-balance remote-reading-type liquid-level gauges for use primarily with aboveground, underground or enclosed inside-storage tanks
  • Hydraulic-pressure transmission remote-reading type liquid level gauges for use primarily with aboveground, underground or enclosed inside-storage tanks.

These requirements do not cover electrically operated remote reading type liquid-level gauges or equipment intended to control flow into or out of a storage tank (ULC/ORD-C58.14).
