{"id":691991,"date":"2024-11-06T05:27:47","date_gmt":"2024-11-06T05:27:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/uncategorized\/tia-912-c2015\/"},"modified":"2024-11-06T05:27:47","modified_gmt":"2024-11-06T05:27:47","slug":"tia-912-c2015","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/publishers\/tia\/tia-912-c2015\/","title":{"rendered":"TIA-912-C:2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This standard establishes transmission requirements for Voice<br \/>\nGateways (VGs) that interface with various elements of public and<br \/>\nprivate telecommunications networks.For the purposes of this<br \/>\nstandard, a VG is considered to be a device that performs voice<br \/>\nrouting functions between:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Telephones;<\/li>\n<li>Public and private analog and digital networks;<\/li>\n<li>Packet-based networks.<sup>1<\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>VGs include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Packet-based Enterprise equipment that is functionally<br \/>\nequivalent to a TDM-based PBX;<\/li>\n<li>Residential Gateways;<\/li>\n<li>Voice-over-ADSL Integrated Access Devices (IADs);<\/li>\n<li>Voice-over-Cable Multimedia Terminal Adaptors (MTAs).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The requirements contained in this standard are based on current<br \/>\nunderstanding of required performance and on the capabilities of<br \/>\npresent technology. As technology evolves, or as performance needs<br \/>\nchange, these requirements may become subject to change.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PURPOSE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The transmission requirements contained in this standard are<br \/>\nbased on an industry-developed fixed loss and level plan. The<br \/>\nrequirements were developed with the objective of maintaining or<br \/>\nimproving the quality of service for connections within existing<br \/>\nand evolving communication networks. Compliance with these<br \/>\nrequirements should assure acceptable service when VGs interface<br \/>\nand connect with the various elements of public and private<br \/>\ntelecommunications networks.<\/p>\n<p>This standard is intended to be coordinated with the public<br \/>\nnetwork loss plan according to the principles of ITU-T<br \/>\nRecommendation G.101 and ANSI\/ATIS-0100508.2003.<\/p>\n<p>Additional voice quality-of-service issues such as the impact of<br \/>\ntransmission delay, speech compression and packet loss are<br \/>\naddressed in TIA Telecommunications Systems Bulletins TSB-32-A and<br \/>\nTSB-116-A.<\/p>\n<p><sup>1<\/sup> For historical reasons, the terms &#034;IP&#034; and<br \/>\n&#034;IP-based networks&#034; are used extensively in this standard in a<br \/>\ngeneric fashion, but the more generic terms &#034;packet&#034; and<br \/>\n&#034;packet-based networks&#034; are now more appropriate.
