{"id":559207,"date":"2024-11-05T18:23:16","date_gmt":"2024-11-05T18:23:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/uncategorized\/esdu-930322009\/"},"modified":"2024-11-05T18:23:16","modified_gmt":"2024-11-05T18:23:16","slug":"esdu-930322009","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/publishers\/esdu\/esdu-930322009\/","title":{"rendered":"ESDU 93032:2009"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>INTRODUCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Item illustrates the practical use of those excrescence<br \/>\ndrag Data Items, see Table 2.1, that are particularly pertinent to<br \/>\nthe types of excrescence commonly found on wings.<\/p>\n<p>In order to illustrate the application (Section 3) of the<br \/>\nexcrescence drag Items applicable to wings the case of a subsonic<br \/>\ntransport aircraft in the cruise condition has been chosen, and the<br \/>\nexcrescence drag arising from a number of wing components<br \/>\n(controls, removable panels etc.) is calculated (Section 4).<\/p>\n<p>Each component is the subject of a separate example and the<br \/>\nvarious contributions to the excrescence drag of the component are<br \/>\ncalculated and itemised for two calculation cases. Calculation Case<br \/>\n(i) deals with an ideal situation in which there are no avoidable<br \/>\nsurface mismatches or sealing problems, and Calculation Case (ii)<br \/>\ndeals with the effects of possible surface mismatches or poor<br \/>\nsealing. The itemised drag contributions for each component are<br \/>\nused to highlight those areas of detail design and installation<br \/>\nthat are likely to contribute most to avoidable drag.
