Where special requirements are existing for trolley buses, hints are given for mechanical and functional safety as well as for protection against fire.<\/p>\n<p>This European Standard covers vehicles intended for public transport of persons. This Standard applies to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>trolley buses,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>buses with current rail for guidance in the road surface,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>guided buses with bipolar roof current collector.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This European Standard does not apply to:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:lower-alpha\">\n<li>\n<p>electric driven vehicles with only internal power supply:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>hybrid vehicles,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>diesel &#8211; electric vehicles,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>fuel &#8211; cell vehicles,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>battery vehicles,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>vehicles with safe protective bonding:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>rubber tyred commuter trains,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>guided buses with supply by a separate current rail,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>rail guided buses with unipolar roof current collector,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>vehicles operated outside publicly accessible areas:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>electric driven lorries on motorways.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Guidance and current rails are special solutions and at this time are not under standardization like trolley bus current collectors and overhead contact lines (OCL).<\/p>\n<p>It refers mainly to earthed networks, but reference is made also to galvanically insulated networks.<\/p>\n<p>Annex A is related to detailed design features for trolley buses.<\/p>\n<p>Annexes B and C are related to the current collection systems.
