Scope<\/strong><\/p>\n

1.1<\/span> This specification2<\/span><\/span> covers hot- and cold-finished bars of stainless steel, including rounds, squares, and hexagons, and hot-rolled or extruded shapes such as angles, tees, and channels for use in boiler and pressure vessel construction.2<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Note 1:<\/span> There are standards covering high nickel, chromium, austenitic corrosion, and heat-resisting alloy materials. These standards are under the jurisdiction of ASTM Subcommittee B02.07 and may be found in Annual Book of ASTM Standards<\/span>, Vol 02.04.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

1.2<\/span> The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

1.3<\/span> Unless the order specifies the applicable \u201cM\u201d specification designation, the material shall be furnished to the inch-pound units.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
