Project 25 – Location Services Overview
Published By | Publication Date | Number of Pages |
TIA | 2010 | 44 |
This document describes P25 Location Services including a brief
summary of the solution (Section 2), document suite (Section 3),
and its architecture (Section 2.2 2).
The document describes a two-tiered approach to providing
location services. See section 2 for a summary of the two
tiers.
The functional scope of the location service as described herein
covers functionality described in TIA-102 [11] section 2.3.3.4.
Note that group-oriented Location Services are not supported at
this time. The transport mechanisms for group data have not been
completed, so there is no mechanism to send group-addressed
application data. The protocols described in the P25 Location
Service documentation suite have to be able to expand to allow
group-oriented operation when the transport mechanisms are
available.
Note also that a trunking control channel message to report
location might also be desired for those systems that do not
support the generic packet data service. This messaging is not
described in this document, but will be the subject of an addendum
to the Trunking document suite if it is introduced.
