ESDU 12001 provides a means of estimating the noise levels in
one-third octave bands emanating from the turbine within a gas
turbine engine which may be either static or flying. The prediction
program accompanying this Item is based on a modified version of
the Smith and Bushell method.

The main input parameters that need to be specified are the
turbine mass flow rate through the engine core, the total
temperature at the turbine exit, the relative tip speed of the last
rotor, the stator-rotor gap-chord ratio, the shaft speed and the
number of blades in the last rotor stage.

ESDUpac A1201 can be run to carry out the estimation. ESDUpac
B1201 can be used to facilitate the generation of input files.
MATLAB® users can use VIEWpac M1201 to run the program,
entering input data through a graphical user interface. VIEWpac
M1201 also generates a graphical output.
