They are also provided to assist in<br \/>\nestablishing bioassay programs by presenting technical information,<br \/>\nprocedures, and literature references that are helpful in<br \/>\ndeveloping the sample collection and analytical procedures<br \/>\nnecessary to bioassay programs. The appendices also include<br \/>\nguidance for the estimation of internal radiation doses from<br \/>\nbioassay data, and methods of estimating internal chemical<br \/>\nexposures for comparison with toxic limits.<\/p>\n<p>This standard does not specify preferred chemical, radiometric,<br \/>\nor in-vivo counting procedures for measuring uranium. This standard<br \/>\nalso does not specify quantitative performance criteria for the<br \/>\naccuracy and precIsion of analytical or measurement procedures;<br \/>\nanother standard is referenced for these criteria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This standard provides criteria for establishing and managing a<br \/>\nbioassay program to monitor and evaluate intakes from uranium,<br \/>\ndistributions of uranium within the body following intake, and the<br \/>\nresulting radiation doses or possible chemical effects.
