Diese Norm enthält Kenngrößen für die Abnahme- und Konstanzprüfung von Bildwiedergabesystemen, beschreibt Prüfverfahren und legt Grenzwerte sowie Prüffristen fest. Die Norm gilt für medizinische Bildwiedergabesysteme mit Befundqualität, die Bildinformationen auf Bildwiedergabegeräten für Farb- oder Grauwertdarstellung wiedergeben. Dazu gehören Schwarzweiß- oder Farbbildwiedergabegeräte, wie sie an Modalitäten der medizinischen diagnostischen Verfahren – Computertomographie (CT), – Radiographie (einschließlich Zahnmedizin, Mammographie und mammographische Stereotaxie), – Durchleuchtung, – digitale Subtraktionsangiographie (DSA) sowie an Arbeitsplätzen, an denen Befundqualität der Bildwiedergabesysteme gefordert wird, meistenteils in Verbindung mit einem Bildinformationssystem (PACS), verwendet werden. An Bildwiedergabesysteme mit Betrachtungsqualität werden Mindestanforderungen gestellt.
